I lie here, looking
for the quiet in the noise.
The world goes, goes, goes
and people walk, shout,
cling, cry, soothe, laugh, and throw things.
When the world won’t stop
(and it never will, really)
take what you can get.

I stopped to think and be quiet. I heard the purring of my cat, the laptop’s slight scratch, an ice cube plunk into the tray, and a pervasive background hum. No quiet in this house.
Interesting and perceptive thoughts. Thank you.

Thanks, Margo! Quiet is never as quiet as we think! Except maybe in horror novels? Glad a cat was purring at this moment! Happy cats. : )
